The Impact of History and Emerging Issues on Recent Changes to the Canadian Code of Ethics for Psychologists: An Interactive Workshop

Objectives

  1. Participants will become familiar with the history of the underlying philosophy of the Canadian Code, and the place of the Code in the history of psychological ethics.
  2. Emerging issues and their impact on the most recent revisions to the Code will be addressed, including: changes in thinking about ethical decision making; globalization and cultural diversity; increased uses of technology; third-party involvement; and collaborative/multidisciplinary care.
  3. Through the use of vignettes and group exercises, participants will have the opportunity to practice and develop their ethical decision-making skills.
